Safety Performance

zero harmSafety performance at Pronghorn is measured in two ways; lagging indicators and leading indicators. Traditionally organizations only tracked lagging indicators such as medical aid injuries.   The root cause of the incident was identified, and controls were put in place to eliminate the likelihood of that type of incident happening again, thus helping to reduce injuries.

At Pronghorn we also know that it is essential to identify, report, track and trend leading indicators. Leading indicators play an important role in motivating a continuous improvement process.  By focussing on areas that have potential to cause an incident, corrections or adjustments are made to prevent future incidents.  By tracking leading indicators we can identify and eliminate hazards before they result in injuries, ensuring no one gets hurt and enabling us to meet our goal of Zero Harm.
